The lab and the Serum

The Serum is made in four steps on four machines. Use a machine to open it: its screen lists every recipe it knows and what it is waiting for. Hoppers work too: ingredients go in from the top, fuel from the sides, and products come out of the bottom.

Mortar Station

Grinds one item at a time, without fuel: a Somnium Cap into Somnium Powder, a Pale Lotus into Lotus Pulp, and a Quantum Shard into two Quantum Dust.

Centrifuge

Spins Lotus Pulp with a Water Bottle into Lotus Extract. It needs no fuel, and only plain water bottles will do: any other potion stops it.

Synthesizer

Combines Lotus Extract, Somnium Powder, Quantum Dust and a Phase Salt Crystal, in any order, into an Unstable Compound. It burns furnace fuel (coal, charcoal, wood, blaze rods, lava). If the fuel runs out mid-job, the job slowly cools back down and loses its progress.

Cryo Stabilizer

Fills four Hush Glass Ampoules from one Unstable Compound, making four Serum Ampoules. It only runs cold: packed ice or blue ice must touch one of its faces. Without cold a job pauses and keeps its progress.

A few worlds offer a coolant that stands in for ice. Use it on the Cryo Stabilizer to pour it in.

Better brews

Once you start bringing things back from other worlds, the Separator breaks them down into residues, and residues make stronger Serum.

• The Separator needs no fuel. Feed it anything from another world: 16 Common, 4 Uncommon or 1 Rare item make one residue, and a Signature item makes two. Each world gives the residue of its kind (the item's tooltip says which).

Return Ampoule	Crafted: Serum Ampoule + Gravitic Residue + Mirror Residue	While the Serum is running, folds you straight back to the Corridor door you came through.
Steady Draught	Crafted: Serum Ampoule + 2 Serene Residue	Cures Decoherence at once. It is not used up if there is nothing to cure.
